Amy Doris Rider, 53, a resident of Fountainveiw Nursing Home, passed away at 5:40 a.m. Saturday, March 14, 2009, at Harrisburg Medical Center.

Amy was born in Joliet on Feb. 4, 1956, the daughter of the late Edward and Lucy (Francis) Rider.

Shortly after graduation from high school...(Eldorado, Illinois, Class Of 1974)...she worked at Ferrell Hospital and was trained as a respiratory therapist. Amy then left Ferrell Hospital and attended Gradwall College in St. Louis and graduated the laboratory technician program. She then worked as a lab technician and respiratory therapist at St. Louis University Hospital for several years before she became disabled from multiple sclerosis.

Amy is survived by two sisters, Shirley Haynes of Eldorado and Brenda James of Eldorado; a brother, Billy (Brenda) Rider of Texas; one niece; and six nephews.

Amy will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Michael Rider.

Graveside services were held at Lindale Cemetery at 1 p.m. Monday, March 16, 2009, with the Rev. Russell Helton officiating. Those attending should go directly to the cemetery.
