Sam Fishel, who was a resident of this county ten or fifteen years died at his home at Stockdale, Tuesday morning at 10 A.M. after an illness of five weeks, with pneumonia which caused his deatH.
The funeral was held at Garrison Wednesday morning. The deceased was 49 years old. He was for years section foreman on the Union Pacific and is well known in the vicinity of Broughton.

(Notes;) This was published in the Clay Center, Ks paper The Times December 12, 1907. It said he was 45 years old, however they were wrong, he was 49yrs, 7months, and 23 days.

His funeral was at the M.E. (Methodist Episcopalon) Church at Garrison, Kansas with Clergyman Lee Darnell, and he was buried in the Garrison cemetery. The pallbearers were Erick Kjellin, C.N. Olson, Geo. Harper, Edgar Olson, L.C. Pierce, and G. E. Pepper. In approximately 1957 the cemetery where he was buried was moved to Carnahan cemetary. His grave # in Garrison was 160 and the record # in Carnahan Cemetery is 2477.

Broughton I.O.O.F received a message Tuesday evening that Sam Fishel had just died. Jesse Dever was sent over to represent the lodge here.
Mrs. R. L. Patterson received the sad intelligence that her son-in-law Sam Fishel was not expected to live. She left on the noon train for Stockdale, Mr. Fishel's home.

Note: Samuel George Fishel was married to Mary M. Patterson on Sept 26,1893. They had three children, Alice and Stella, and a son Oscar who died at 6 mos of age. Mary died Feb 26,1900. Her father was Mullato and her mother white. After her death he married Nancy Jane Simpson and had 3 children Mabel, Lela, and George.
