He was a retired automobile dealer and had owned and operated the former Leitzel Ford dealerships in Klingerstown, Newport and Myerstown. He was a graduate of Hubley Twp. High School and Bucknell University and attended Susquehanna University; was an Army Air Forces veteran of World War II; a member and past president of Myerstown Rotary Club; a charter member of Valley View F&AM Lodge 797; and a member of Friedens Lutheran Church, Myerstown, Harrisburg Consistory, Newport American Legion Post 177 and numerous fire companies.
He was the widower of Eleanor P. Messersmith Leitzel and Pearl I. Fessler Reber Leitzel. Surviving are three daughters, Virginia Engle of Dalmatia and Elaine Wiest and Carol Stine, both of Lebanon; a stepson, Gerald Reber of Battle Creek, Mich.; a stepdaughter, Holly Miller of Robesonia; a brother, Paul of Gratz; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in St. Michael Lutheran Church, Klingerstown. Burial, with military honors, will be in the church cemetery.
Viewing will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday in the church.
