Egyptian Pharaoh. His name means "Horus who Strikes", and he ruled Ancient Egypt for about 32 years during the 1st Dynasty. He was the first pharaoh to be shown wearing the double crown of Upper and Lower Egypt, and who used the title "King of the Two Lands". He fought wars against the Bedouin tribes of Sinai and is also represented carrying out the "first smiting of the East". His tomb at Abydos features the earliest use of red granite in a monumental building.
