EAST LIVERPOOL - Ruth E. Shallcross, age 87, of East Liverpool died on Saturday, April 17, 2010, at East Liverpool City Hospital after a brief illness.

Born in East Liverpool on March 13, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Ephriam and Carrie (Locke) Shallcross and lived her entire life here.

Miss Shallcross was employed at the former Sterling China in Wellsville for 40 years retiring in 1985. She was a devoted member of the First Church of the Nazarene in East Liverpool and was active with the Rose of Sharon Class and the Missionary Ladies and the Jolly 60's senior group.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Shallcross; and two sisters, Belva Foreman and Wilma Rice.

Survivors include seven nieces, Janet Pfiller of Wellsville, Linda Metrovich, Deborah Hunter, Judy Cornell, Patty Morris, all of East Liverpool, Kay Rowley of North Lima, and Carol Railing of Chester; three nephews, Fred Rockenhauser of Phoenix, Ariz., Robert Shallcross and Mark Shallcross both of East Liverpool; and several great nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 20, 2010, at the Calcutta Chapel of the Martin MacLean Altmeyer Funeral Homes with Pastor Merrill Williams of the Church officiating. Burial will follow at the Riverview Cemetery.

Family will be present to receive friends on Tuesday at the funeral home from noon up until time of services.
