Middleton Rites Held at Altoona Church

Walter Clifford Middleton, 68, died March 4 at 8:15 a.m. at St. Francis hospital in Wichita. He had been in ill health for five years.

Born March 22, 1895, at Fredonia, Mr. Middleton was the son of Thomas A and Dora M. (Harris) Middleton. On March 21, 1916, he was married at Oswego to Miss Maye Lansdowne. He was a foreman at the Kansas Ordnance plant at Parsons during WWII He then worked for the Ford Motor Company in Parsons for about 10 years. He retired because of failing health in 1959. Mr. Middleton attended the Parsons Christian church.

He is survived by the wife, Mrs. Maye Middleton, of the home, 101 S. 50th, Parsons; two sons, Lyle and Clyde, both of Wichita; two daughters, Mrs. Allene McCormack, Girard, and Miss Margie Middleton of the home in Parsons; seven grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Sadie Dubrow, Fort Smith, Ark., and Mrs. Blanche Blex, Independence; one brother, Glen Middleton, of South Coffeyville, Okla. He was preceded in death by his parents and twin sisters, Zetta and Zella.

Funeral services were held Friday at 2 p.m. in the Christian church at Altoona with the Rev. Alvin Daetwiler officiating. Mrs. Morris Forsythe and Mrs. Clifford Cranor sang " In the Garden" and "Whispering Hope," accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Kenneth Richards.

Casket bearers were Virgil Gamble, Harry Moffatt, Frank Stanley, Royle Stafford, Harold Duncan and William Hansen. Interment was made at the Altoona cemetery under the direction of the Loran Fawcett Funeral Home of Neodesha.

Out of town relatives attending the services were: Mrs. Maye Middleton, Miss Margie Middleton, Parsons; Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Middleton, Pam, Gail and Ray, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Middleton and Cheryl Wright, Wichita; Mr. and Mrs. William McCormack, Timmy, Dana and Tony, Girard; Mr. and Mrs. Cleve Dunbrow, Ft. Smith, Ark.; Mr. and Mrs. Verne Blex, Independence; Mr. and Mrs. Glen Middleton, Mrs. Fred Fisher, South Coffeyville, Okla.; Mr. and Mrs. George Lansdowne, Coffeyville; Harry Taylor, Fredonia; Mr. and Mrs. James Francisco, Oswego; Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Lansdowne, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Lansdowne and Ralph Lansdowne, Parson; Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Gamble, Chanute
