Jane was married first to Amos Houghum in 1846 and they had one child after which she was widowed, she then married John Story in 1848. After they arrived in Oregon they had 9 more children. Her son by Amos is not listed on the 1850 census in McLean, IL. where she is shown with husband John and son Charles.

Mrs. Elizabeth Jane STOREY died Sunday, Nov. 12, 1899. She was 72 years. Born in Illinois in 1827. Married to John R. Story in 1848. Mrs. Storey came to Oregon in 1853 and settled in Salem. She came to Oregon City in 1889. The remains will be taken to Civil Bend Cemetery in Douglas County. Her children are David, Edward T., George L., Anna Story of Oregon City, John W. Story of Airlee, Olive Story Miller, Sprague, Washington.
