Wife of Ross M. aged 83 years, 5 months and 19 days.

Fannie Culbertson Orr Corbett was born 8 August 1815 in Frogtown the daughter of Samuel Culbertson and Margaret McCready Sloan. (Added note from JoAnne Shively)

In the death of Mrs. Fannie Corbett which took place at the home of her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Samuel Corbett, Leatherwood, on Jan. 27, ends a useful and well spent life. Mrs. Corbett was born in 1815 the wife of Ross Corbett, who died about eight years ago. She was a sister of Mrs. Culbertson Orr, of Limestone, and Mr. David Orr, of Apollo. She was a member of the Leatherwood Presbyterian church for 57 years, and is the last of the members of the original organization of 1842. In her the church found a devout and consistent follower of the Master. She considered no task to [sic] arduous, or service too great to be performed cheerfully and well. It was her delight to minister to the wants of her friends and neighbors, and thus she became university [sic] beloved by all who knew her. She possessed a remarkable mind, well cultivated and active to every interest. In the last seven years of her life, she was unable to walk through the effects of a fall, and by this life of enforced inactivity, which was entirely foreign to her nature, disease soon set in and the body was filled with aches and pains, sometimes so intense was the suffering that it seemed beyond endurance. Yet through it all she never complained. With genial and sunny hearted Bessie, now Mrs. Craighead, at her beside, to cheer her and attend to her wants, she met all with a smile and kind words. But at last her work was finished. The Lord's will done, and in obedience to the divine command she yields up her spirit to Him who gave it. Three sons survive her: D. L. Corbett, of New York City; Scott, of Kansas, and Hunter, the well known missionary of China. Services were held in the Leatherwood Presbyterian church on Jan. 29th by her pastor, Rev. J. C. Dible. A large number of friends, relatives and neighbors was present to take their last leave and lay her quietly to rest. Rev. J. C. Dible spoke with impressiveness, taking for his text Isa. 48:15, using hymns 735, 351 and 474. Republican [Clarion, Pa] Feb 9, 1899
