Washington--The body of Dr. Kathryn McHale, distinguished woman educator and public official, was being returned Tuesday night to her native Logansport, Ind., for funeral services and burial.

Requiem high mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Logansport. Burial will be in St. Vincent De Paul Cemetery there. The body will arrive at noon Wednesday at the Kroeger Funeral Home in Logansport.

Dr. McHale died unexpectedly on Monday. She had failed to report for duty as a consultant to the United States subversive activities control board, of which she was an original member. Attaches of the commission asked attendants at the apartment house where Dr. McHale resided to look in on her. She was found unconscious on her living room floor and died a few hours later in Emergency Hospital of a stroke. Dr. A. McGruder MacDonald, the District of Columbia coroner, said Dr. McHale also had a heart condition.
