Kenneth McCabe, 86, of Salem, died Saturday, April 22, 2000, at Henry County Health Care in Mt. Pleasant.

Born Jan. 15, 1914, he was the son of Frank and Della Holmes McCabe. On Oct. 9, 1937, he married Margaret Spray.

Mr. McCabe was a farmer and lived on the McCabe Century Farm since 1940.

He was a 1932 graduate of Hillsboro High School. He loved baseball and for many years was an outstanding pitcher.

Survivors included his wife; two sons, Chuck McCabe of Argyle, Texas, and Mark McCabe of Fairfield; two daughters, Diane McCabe Dayton of Salem and Susan McCabe of Iowa City; four granddaughters and two great-granddaughters; and three step grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, one sister and one son.

The funeral for Mr. McCabe will be at 1:30 pm Tuesday at Hillsboro Christian Church, with the Rev. Millard White officiating. Burial at the Hillsboro Cemetery. A memorial has been established for Hillsboro Christian Church.
