Son of Andrew Gregg, native of Ireland, and Jane Scott.

He married Isabella Shepherd on 6 October 1835 in Peoria Co, IL.

Their children were Elizabeth Gregg[married John B. Otis], Cyrus W. Gregg[married Rebecca M. Armstrong], Wesley Gregg[married Ada O. Brown], Francine B. Gregg[married W.W. Armstrong], Sarah Gregg[buried beside parents], Hattie Gregg[married Wadsworth], Thomas Gregg, Jr., Isabella Gregg[married Mark Lamonia and __ Kennedy] and they raised William Moran[married Mary Eva Kane].
