G.C.I.E., K.C.S.I., K.C.V.O., C.B.E. He was educated at Malvern and Pembroke College, Cambridge. He was the son of Waller de Montmorency and Mary O'Brien. He was Private Secretary to Viceroy of India 1922 and secretary to HRH The Prince of Wales during his tour of Indian and was in the Indian Civil Service. He was Knight of Grace, Order of St. John of Jerusalem (K.G.St.J.) and Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.) in 1919. He was Knight Commander, Royal Victorian Order (K.C.V.O.) in 1922 and between 1926 and 1928 member of Punjab Exec. Council. He was Knight Commander, Order of the Star of India (K.C.S.I.) in 1928 and between 1928 and 1933 Govenor of Punjab. He was Knight Grand Commander, Order of the Indian Empire (G.C.I.E.) in 1933.
