He was born in Dobie, Barron, Wisconsin the son of Fred and Ida Morneau, where he grew up and attended school. As a young man, he worked as a milk hauler. He married the former Elaine Block on September 28, 1939. They had 2 children. In the early 1940s, he did construction work and helped build the Alaskan Highway and construct an airfield in the Hudson Bay area of Canada. Later, he went into farming in the Barron area and then near Campia before returning to construction as a heavy machine operator. He worked for various companies, including Smith Transfer of Barron and The Town of Barron, retiring in 1982.
He died in Rice Lake, Barron, Wisconsin at Lakeview Medical Center in Rice Lake.
Funeral services were on February 17,1996 at Jarocki Funeral Home of Rice Lake. Rev. Gorden Estenson officiated. He was buried in Orchard Beach Cemetery, Rice Lake, Barron, Wisconsin.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine; one son, Alan of Chetek; one daughter, Eileen Weiss of Minneapolis; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two brothers, Joe of Mikana and Edward of Dallas; and four sisters, Laurene Sirek and Rita Jilek, both of Rice Lake, Bernice Malum of Chetek and Gertrude Harsh of Canton, Michigan.
