LEXINGTON - Mary A. Koontz, 93, of South N.C. 150, died Friday, March 13, 2009, at her home following a serious illness of one week.

Miss Koontz was born Oct. 23, 1915, in Davidson County, to Charles Franklin Koontz and Clara Lennie Shoaf Koontz. She was a retired inspector at Cannon Mills and was very active in her church as long as her health permitted.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother Clinton F. Koontz; and sister Lorena K. Williams.

Surviving are a brother, Elbert Koontz of Lexington; sister Christine Swicegood and husband Carson of Lexington; and several nieces and nephews.

Service and Visitation: The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 15 at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, where she was a lifetime member, by the Rev. Howard Baker. Burial will follow in Sandy Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service at the church fellowship hall.

Memorials: The family requests memorials to be made to St. Luke's Lutheran Church, General Fund, 4299 South N.C. 150, Lexington, NC 27295.
