Mary Louise Giles Purvis, age 88 of Lovingston died Wednesday February 27, 2013 at the Lovingston Health Care Center after an extended illness. Mary was born July 13, 1924 at Oak Ridge Estates (Nelson County) a daughter of the late Charlie Lee Giles and Lader Loving Giles. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Herbert Lee Purvis, two sisters; Florence G. Bryant and Elizabeth G. Johns and two brothers Charlie Giles and George Giles. She was a very active member of Calvary Baptist Church, a retail sales clerk with the Super Dollar Store of Lovingston and a former clerk at the Original Lovingston Drug Store. Mary is survived by her devoted son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Connie Purvis of Madison Heights, three grandchildren; David Purvis, Kelly Peters, Chris Purvis, two step-grandchildren; Kim Deal, Tommy Smith, five great-grandchildren, a sister; Thelma G. Hughes of Appomattox and a very special niece Ann Hale of Lovingston. She is also survived by many other nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. A funeral service will be held Saturday at 11:00 A.M. from Calvary Baptist Church in Lovingston with Pastors A.C. Smith and John C. Campbell officiating with interment to follow in Mountain View Cemetery in Lovingston. The family will receive friends Friday from 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
