Deborah was the daughter of Ezekiel Knowlton and Susannah Morgan of Shrewsbury, where Deborah was born on December 23, 1734. On October 5, 1761, in the same town, she married Jabez Bigelow. The newlyweds moved to the new settlement of Westminister, and Jabez built a house on lot number 3, on the intersection of Main and Bacon Streets, the lot that Jabez had purchased the spring before from John Wheeler.

Jabez and Deborah had ten children, all born in Westminster. Deborah died February 22, 1816 at Westminster. Deborah is buried in Woodside Cemetery in Westminster.
