Phat Van Nguyen, 76, of Avon, Indiana, went to be with his Lord on January 5th, 2003 at 12:26 pm. He wanted to give his children a better life in America. Phat escaped with his family from Vietnam by boat and came to America in 1978. They lived in Upland, IN for the first four years where the wonderful people of Upland Evangelical Mennonite Church sponsored them. Phat first worked at Meiss Department store and went on to earn a BA degree of computer science and French at Taylor University in 1984. He also earned a masters degree of political science and humanity from Ball State in 1991. Phat was a businessman in Vietnam and was the founder of PC-Com in Indianapolis for the last 15 years.Phat was the widow of Phuong Thi Nguyen. Phat is survived by his sister Hue Thi Nguyen, 10 children (My Khanh Chu, Trung Nguyen, Binh Nguyen, My Van Dang, Mylinh Vo, My Hanh Nguyen, MaryAnn Mohney of Mohney Homes, Inc., Tim Nguyen, Tom Nguyen, and Philip Nguyen M.D.), and 17 grandchildren. Viewing will be from 2-5 pm on Wednesday, January 8, at Clermont Christian Church, 9204 Crawsfordsville Road, Indianapolis. Service will follow from 5-6 pm and a fellowship meal will be served afterwards. Flowers or contributions can be made to Clermont Christian Church in memory of Phat Van Nguyen.
