BELLINGHAM Samuel Peters, 87, of Bellingham, formerly of Milford, died Sunday, March 1, 2009. He was the husband of the late Claire M. (Bucchino) Peters, who died in 2006.
He was born in Warren, R.I., son of the late Francisco and Rose (Cambria) Peters, and moved to Milford in 1961. He was educated in the Warren, R.I., schools. He was a lifelong commercial fisherman in Massachusetts, Rhode Island and California. He retired after 20 years as a laborer and foreman at laborers Union Local #609 in Framingham.
He is survived by two sons, Frank Peters and Michael Peters, both of Milford; four daughters, Esther and her husband, Harvey Rau, of Oceanside Calif., Theresa Mannes of Rockledge, Fla., Claire Flaherty of Bellingham, and Rosemarie and her husband, Peter Ramirez, of Stockton, Calif.; one sister, Nancy Capizano, of Warren, R.I.; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one son, Ronald Peters; four brothers, Joseph Peters, Pasquale Peters, Charles Pittai and Louis Pittai; and seven sisters, Antonetta Mello, Lena Rogers, Theresa Catalano, Sally Burkhart, Mary Peters, Constance Peters and Frances Peters.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday, March 3, at 9 a.m., at Sacred Heart Church, 7 East Main St., Milford.
Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Medway Road, Milford.
Calling hours will take place prior to the funeral Mass, 7:30 to 8:30 a.m., at the Consigli-Ruggerio Funeral Home, 46 Water St., Milford. Please visit www.consigliruggeriofuneralhome .com.
