MARILYN MAE (CHAPMAN) WOEBKE
1930 - 2009
Marilyn Mae, daughter of William and Wilda (Davis) Chapman, was born September 24, 1930 at Mapleton, Iowa. As a youngster, she moved with her family to the Vail and Denison areas. She attended Denison High School, graduating with the Class of 1948.

On May 15, 1949, Marilyn was united in marriage with Albert H. Woebke at Denison. Five children were born to this union. The family lived primarily on a farm in the Manilla area. After the death of her husband on July 30, 1977, she moved into Manilla and began working at the Manilla Manor Nursing Home in the housekeeping department. After 26 years in that position she retired in 2003. Marilyn was an independent woman, caring for her home and yard up through the summer before her death. She had an extensive collection of 700 salt and pepper shakers and close to 300 pitchers. She enjoyed traveling to area casinos and purchasing her weekly lottery tickets.

On December 24, 2008, Marilyn suffered a stroke and after her hospital stays entered the Manilla Manor Nursing Home. She died there on Thursday, March 5, 2009 at the age of 78 years, 5 months and 9 days.

Preceding Marilyn in death are her parents; husband Albert Woebke; a daughter in infancy; and brother Daryl Chapman.

Marilyn is survived by four children: Neil Woebke and wife Beverly of Irwin; Nancy Simonsen of Manilla; Cheryl and husband Galen Bral of Manilla; Caryl and husband Curtis Stribe of Manning; twelve grandchildren: Danyal Henkelman, Clint, Nick and Garet Woebke; Tracy Jensen, Bill, Jeff and Kyle Simonsen; Matthew Bral and Kelsey Severson; and Heather and Kyle Stribe; twelve great-grandchildren: Tyler, Jarod, and Avery Henkelman, Jackson and Carson Woebke, Seth Woebke and Spencer Freese; Mason Boell, Makenna Simonsen and Colleen Simonsen; and Kadyn and Toryn Severson; siblings: Jean Sayers of Council Bluffs; Garry Chapman and wife Pat of Denison; Harold Chapman and wife Elaine of Denison; Jerry Chapman and wife Carlene of Marion; sister-in-law Carole Chapman of Manilla; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were Monday, March 9, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. Ohde Funeral Home in Manilla, IA. Celebrant Esta Belle Denton; recorded music "How Great Thou Art", "On Eagle's Wings". Honorary casket bearers were her granddaughters; Danyal Henkelman, Kelsey Severson, Tracy Jensen, Heather Stribe. Casket bearers were her grandsons; Clint Woebke, Garet Woebke, Jeff Simonsen, Matthew Bral, Nick Woebke, Bill Simonsen, Kyle Simonsen, Kyle Stribe. Interment Nishnabotna Cemetery in Manilla, Iowa.
