James C. Crane
The funeral services of this little boy were held in the Presbyterian church at 11 o'clock last Friday. The Rev. A. P. Walton preached the sermon. Among the hymns sung at the funeral was "Asleep in Jesus," which was sung by request of the mother. Jamie had been sick but a few days and seemed better. He had a very severe hoarseness which troubled him a great deal. In response to a pitiful look from the little fellow his father lifted him from his bed to his favorite place, in his arms, when he closed his eyes and was gone. The immediate cause of the death was laryngitis.
Jamie was born Sept. 2, 1898, and died Feb. 16, 1904, at the age of 5 years, 3 months and 14 days. The blow is a hard one to the family. The boy was unusually bright and promising, but the stricken parents, in their true Christian faith, bow submissively and say "They will be done." The Sabbath school adopted the following resolutions: The Sabbath school of Wilson's Grove Presbyterian church, desiring to express their deep sympathy for the parents and brother and sister of Jamie C. Crane who has been called away, do Resolve, That we deeply lament the loss of one of our number, and pray the Father to help the bereaved hearts to bear their burden of grief. Resolved that a copy of these resolutions be presented to the parents, and a copy be spread on the minutes of the Sabbath school. Respectfully submitted, Mary (unreadable), W. T. Lyon, A. P. Walton.

Out of a World of Night
Dedicated to Jamie Crane.
Out of a world of night, Into the light of day,
From our home its treasure
God has called away.
Out of a world of pain,
Into a life of joy,
Into the Savior's presence
God has called our boy.
Out of a flood of tears
From eyes with sorrow dim,
We see that in his wisdom
The Lord had need of him.
Out of a world of sin,
Into the better land
That little life is leading
Ours with a mighty hand.
