A remembrance of Homer by Nyle Christensen, a classmate of Homers son, Terry. ""Homer, Terry's father was a very dedicated veteran and he traveled all around the south central part of Utah performing military rites for soldiers serving in the military. Homer would come to the school and check me out of class many, many times during my 9-12 grades years to play taps. I remember Homer coming to school one day before school started and checked me out of school for the day. We traveled to Circleville and performed rites for a young soldier 5 or 6 years older than I was. I was young and didn't understand the meaning, I was just thinking about skipping school for the day. Now I realize the dedication of Homer and Terry serving our country.
If anyone deserves military rites it would be Terry because of his father. I think serving in the military was an important part of their lives.""

Deceased Name: Homer L. Ogden

----
Homer L. Ogden died August 22, 2000, at his home in Richfield and in the company of his family after a battle with cancer.

Homer was born July 10, 1921, in Richfield, Utah, a son of Charles L. Ogden and Dora Ann Coons Ogden. He married Anna Mae Sargent on May 15, 1943, in Las Vegas, Nevada, and their marriage was later solemnized in the St. George LDS Temple.

He is survived by his wife, Anna Mae Ogden of Richfield; by his children, Terry H. (Sandra) Ogden of Orlando Florida, David (Lana) Ogden of Richfield, Beverly (Kerry) Carpenter of Enoch Utah, and Janet (Richard) Lane of San Gabriel California; by 13 grand-children and four great-grandchil-dren; by his sisters, Shirley Nielson of Springville Utah, Helen Evans of Richfield, and Doradean (Kenneth) Hendrickson of Richfield, and by sisters-in-law Cherril Ogden. He was preceded in death by his parents and by his brothers Reed, Lavar, Grant, Woodrow and Garth.

Homer graduated from Richfield High School in 1940 and from the Branch Agricultural College in Cedar City in 1943. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served for over two years during World War II. He returned home with his sweetheart and joined his father and brothers in the dairy business. Until he retired in 1993, Homer was known and loved by many as one of the Ogden brothers who owned and operated the Ideal Dairy. Homer lived a life devoted to his family and to community service. He served on the Utah Dairy Commission and the Governor's Dairy Advisory Board, as a member of the local Selective Service Board, as Commander of the Richfield post of the American Legion for several years, twice as president of the Richfield Lion's Club, as a director of the Richfield Chamber of Commerce, and was an honorary Life Member of the Sevier County Jeep Posse. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in several callings throughout his life. Homer and Anna Mae rarely missed a ballgame, track meet, school play or other activity in which their children were involved. He blessed his family with a positive attitude of optimism, confidence, hope and hard work. Although he will be greatly missed, his influence lives on in his posterity.

Funeral services will be held Saturday August, 26th in the Richfield 2nd LDS Ward Chapel (200 W. 400 North in Richfield).
