William 'Buck" Caraway was a very successful businessman in Benton County. He engaged in the mercantile business, the saw-mill business as well as owning and operating a cotton gin. He was instrumental in the organization and establishment of Nathan Bedford Forrest State Park He was a member of the Methodist church, and the Big Sandy Lodge.
William was married three times.
1). Adaline Lindsey in 1859 in Benton County. They had no children together.
2). Almeda Elender Alsup on 13 AUG 1861 in Benton County, They had one child together:
i. Sophia Ann Caraway (1865-1921)
3). Louisa Catherine Morris on 5 OCT 1865 in Benton County.
They were the parents of the following children:
i. Horace J. (1862-1869)
ii.William Priestly (1871-1903)
iii.Leonidas A. (1874-1939)
iv.Herbert Asbury
v. Lillie A. (1878- 1962)
