Joseph E. Pecaro, 62, a decorated veteran and Northlake resident, died Sunday at Elmhurst Hospital, Elmhurst.
Mr. Pecaro, who was born in St. Charles, served in the Army from Aug. 1944 to Jun. 1946 as a staff sergeant, receiving the Good Conduct Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal. A truck driver, he was commander and past commander of Howard H. Rhode Post #888 American Legion in Northlake.
He is survived by his wife, Jean; five sons, Joseph, John, James, Joe and Jeff; five daughters, Joan Farkaschek, Jean Blischke, June Csech, Sandy Galasso and Jan; a brother; 14 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Columbian Funeral Home, 10300 W. Grand Ave., Franklin Park. Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the same location.
