Geraldine "Jerry" Frederick, Indianapolis, passed away Easter Sunday, April 11, 2004 in St. Vincent's Hospital at the age of 71. She was taken after a courageous fight, having overcome many adversities over the past few years. Jerry was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on May 8, 1932 to the late James L. and Mary E. Smith Frederick. She attended schools in Plainfield as a youngster and graduated from Winter Haven Florida High School. Although she lived in San Francisco, California, for nine years, she spent most of her adult life in Plainfield. In recent years, she had lived in Indianapolis. Jerry was a principal in Sunquest Systems, Incorporated, a franchisor of Waffle House and Sunshine Cafe restaurants and served on the board of directors for three decades. She served as the secretary of the board of directors until her retirement in 1996. She also served as a director and officer of other Waffle House and Sunshine Cafe corporations. Jerry was a member of Northwood Christian Church, where she was an active volunteer in the Northwood Church Food Pantry. Her church became a focal point of her life. Jerry was a member Alpha chapter of Delta Alpha Gamma in Plainfield, the Indianapolis chapter of American Women in Radio and Television. Jerry loved her many dogs over the years and they were worthy companions. Calling will be Wednesday, April 14, 2004 from 4 to 8 p.m. in Hall-Baker Funeral Home, Plainfield. Waffle House in Plainfield and other Indiana locations is not the same as the one with the black and yellow signs. Those are called Steak & Waffle in Indiana. The Waffle House (now Sunshine Cafe) was a favorite of many in this area for many years
