Camille E. (Compton) Caldwell, 82, of Leechburg, died Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2009, in the residence of her daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Merle Lowman, in Allegheny Township. She was born June 8, 1926, in Perth Amboy, N.J., a daughter of Lewis and Beatrice (Vincent) Compton Copsey.
She was employed as a waterfront and nature instructor at Keystone Tall Tree Girl Scouts in Kittanning for many years.
She was a member of Holy Innocents Church, Leechburg, and the Girl Scouts of America of Kittanning.
Her interests included spending time with her family, hiking, swimming and outdoor activities. She was active in the church vestry and as a delegate to the Diocesan Council in Pittsburgh for many years.
She is survived by her son, James B. (Ann) Caldwell, of Annapolis, Md.; four daughters, Marion C. Carson, of Upper Burrell, Nancy M. (Merle) Lowman, of Allegheny Township, Stephanie L. (John) Hackwelder, of Fox Chapel, and Heather S. (Loren) Merrell, of Fremont, Calif.; a brother, James V. Compton, of San Francisco, Calif.; cousin, Gwendolyn M. Compton, of Perth Amboy, N.J.; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Friends will be welcomed from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at CLAWSONS, Leechburg, , and from 1 p.m. until the time of ceremonies at 2 p.m. Sunday in Holy Innocents Church, Leechburg, with the Rev. Gary D. Miller officiating.
Committal services and interment will follow in Brookland Cemetery, Allegheny Township.
