Services for Charles R. Beckhart Jr., 55, Rock Island, are 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Rock Island. Burial will be in National Cemetery, Arsenal Island, where military honors will be conducted by Moline American Legion Post 246.
Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Wheelan Funeral Home, Rock Island; additional visitation is 9 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the church. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or to the church.
Mr. Beckhart died Thursday, Oct. 8, 1998, at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island.
Mr. Beckhart was born March 5, 1943, in Rock Island, the son of Charles and Emma Braet Beckhart. He married Vera Hermann June 6, 1964, in Rock Island.
He had worked as a machine operator at Deere Harvester Works for 30 years, retiring in 1993. He was an Army veteran.
He was a member of the church and UAW Local 434 and a lifetime member of the Rock Island Boat Club. He loved his grandchildren and enjoyed camping and fishing.
Survivors include his wife, a son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Mary Beckhart, a daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and Randy Shesky, three grandchildren; his mother, Emma, and a brother, Ronnie Beckhart, all of Rock Island. He was preceded in death by his father.
