Jack C. Maddy, 63, passed away Thursday, March 5, 2009, at his residence in Muncie following an extended illness.

He was born April 18, 1945, in Muncie, the son of Harry Edward and Addie (Clark) Maddy. He attended school in Gaston and graduated from Gaston High School in 1964.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War and received the Army Commendation Medal with Oak Leaf Clusters.

In his early years he worked at the Gaston Skating Rink and at Delco Battery.

He was a member of the Muncie City Police Department for twenty-one years and Chief of Security at Ball Memorial Hospital where he was employed for twenty-six years.

Jack was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police; Muncie Lodge #433, F. & A.M.; Scottish Rite, Valley of Indianapolis; Blue Knight in Indianapolis; and the National Hog Association, Local Chapter #1277. He was a former member of the Corvette Car Club; an avid supporter of the Miracle Ride for Riley Children's Hospital; Shop With A Cop; and enjoyed donating to Toys for Tots and the Fireman's Fund.

Surviving are his wife, Debra (Emenhiser) Maddy; son, Timothy Maddy, Selma; daughter, Tammy Low, (husband, John), Follansbee, West Virginia; step-son, Jason Young, Muncie; grandson, Ryan Low, Follansbee, West Virginia; brother, Jerry Maddy, (wife, Barbara), Muncie, sister, Virginia Fights, Hartford City; mother-in-law, Deloris Emenhiser, Muncie; brother-in-law, Tim Emenhiser (wife, Angela), Hartford City; and several nieces and nephews including nephew, Tyler Emenhiser, Muncie; and his dog, Faye.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Harry Bruce and Jim Maddy; and a couple of nieces and nephews.
