Before his retirement he had been employed for more than 50 years by the New York, New Haven and Hartford Railroad as an engineer. He was the first president of the Catholic Men's Club of Our Lady of the Lake Church. He was a member of the Order of Locomotive Engineers and the Order of Locomotive Firemen. During his youth he was a well-known Westfield baseball player at Woronoco Park and Whitney Playground.
Besides his wife, Mrs. Rose (Jarry) Keenan, he leaves two sons, Daniel F. of Westfield and Joseph P., at home; three daughters, Sister Daniel Rose of the Sisters of St. Joseph's Convent of Pittsfield, Sister Thomas Augusta of the Sisters of St. Joseph at St. Michael's Cathedral, Springfield and Miss Anne Keenan, at home, two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
