Chester Grier Blalock, age 63, died suddenly of an apparent heart attack, at his home near Manassas, Tuesday, February 17.
Mr. Blalock was a life long resident of Evans County. He was a successful farmer, cattleman and an avid deer hunter. His family and friends were always at the top of the list of things for which he was thankful.
He was a member of the Bellville United Methodist Church. He was the "Young Farmer of the Year" for Evans County in the past. He was "2007 Conservationist of the Year" in soil and water and he has served for several years as a committee member of the Farm Service Agency for Evans County. He held membership in the Seaboard, Cedar Creek and Flat Woods Hunting Club.
Mr. Blalock was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Willie Blalock.

Visitation will be Thursday, February 19, 6:00 until, at J. Mellie NeSmith Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held Friday, February 20, 11:00 a.m., at J. Mellie NeSmith Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. William David Blalock, the Rev. David Hagan and Eld. Jimmy Haire officiating. Burial will be in Canoochee Cemetery in Claxton.
Honorary pallbearers will be Seaboard, Cedar Creek and Flat Woods Hunting Club.
J. Mellie NeSmith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
