She was born May 1, 1927, in Stanly County, NC.
She was preceded in death by husband James Harold Moss in 1994; father William 'Bill' Vinton Palmer; mother Gertrude Moody Palmer; sister Katherine Palmer Lewis; and sister Lucille Palmer Efird.
Survivors include son James Harold Moss, Jr. of Huntersville, NC; and daughter Andrea Palmer Moss of Charlotte, NC.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, March 11, 2009, at 2pm at Myers Park Presbyterian Church, 2501 Oxford Place, Charlotte, NC. Visitation will be Thursday, March 12, 2009, 12-1:30pm at Hartsell Funeral Home-Albemarle.
Graveside service Thursday, March 12, 2009, 2pm at Fairview Memorial Park with Rev. David Alexander officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Memorial Park in Albemarle.
She graduated from Albemarle High School in 1944 as valedictorian and continued her education at Duke University where she was on the Dean's List. A member of the Social Standards Committee and Glee Club, she was initiated into Tau Psi Omega, National French Honorary Society and was a member of the Duke Half Century Club. She was presented to society at the annual Debutante Ball held by Terpsichorean Club in Raleigh. She loved the arts and thoroughly enjoyed being a docent at Cummer Gallery of the Arts. Jeanne's favoriate hobby was growing flowers. She loved to spend time in her flower garden and often said, 'Let's beautify God's World.' She served as deacon at Riverside Presbyterian Church, Jacksonville, FL. She subsequently moved to Charlotte and was active as an elder and member of the Rhodes Johnston Bible Class at Myers Park Presbyterian Church. Her favorite scripture was Isaiah 43:4: 'Since thou wast precious in my sight, thou has been honorable, and I have loved thee.' She was a member of Myers Park Presbyterian Church.
