MRS. MARGARET SHOCKEY, widow of Eli Shockey, a veteran of the Mexican and Civil wars, died Saturday afternoon at the home of her son, C. H. Shockey of this place.
She was 88 years old.
Mrs. Margaret Mazer Shockey was born April 21, 1840 in Hessen-Darmstadt, Germany and came to this country at the age of one year.
She and Eli Shockey were married in May, 1865. To this union eight children were born and four survive as follows: Mrs. Matilda Lippold, Cumberland, Md.; C. H. Shockey, Stoyestown; George and Herman Shockey, both of Sand Patch. William Mazer of Sand Patch is a brother. Mrs. Shockey also leaves 24 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson, Samuel Hoke, Jr., of Meyersdale.
