Kathryn J. Nichless, 76, of Keosauqua, died at 6:40 a.m. Saturday, March 7, 2009, at Van Buren Good Samaritan Center, Keosauqua, where she had resided since September 2008.

She was born May 20, 1932, in Carpenter, S.D., to John and Kate Schneiderman Ludwig. She married Harold E. Nichless on June 12, 1955, in Dempster, S.D.

She graduated from Bryant S.D. High School in Mitchell, SD Business College and Central College in Pella, where she met her husband. They lived in Pella, Belle Plaine and since 1977, in Keosauqua, where her husband was a school teacher and administrator. They spent many summers in Tucumcari, N.M.Kathy was a homemaker, an active member and organist at Keosauqua Christian Church, a member of the Christian Women's fellowship and played the organ in Tucumcari Presbyterian Church during summers.

Surviving are her husband; a daughter, Peggy Nichless of West Des Moines; a son, Hal Nichless and wife Marlene of Minneapolis, Minn.; other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Donna Dykstra and Lillian Ludwig and two brothers, Richard and James Ludwig.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 10 in Keosauqua Christian Church with Rev. Bill Shewmaker officiating.
