DEATH OF MR. LASSITER.
Veteran of Civil War Succumbs to Serious Illness at His Home in Villa Heights.
Mr. H. C. Lassiter died yesterday at his home in Villa Heights after a serious illness lasting for several days. Mr. Lassiter was 71 years of age and was a veteran of the civil war, fighting gallantly on the side of the Confederacy.
Although a native of Raldoph county, the deceased has been making Charlotte his home for a number of years.
He was twice married and is survived by a son and two daughters, Mr. H. H. Lassiter and Mesdames H. W. Warner of this city and Alice Herbert of Richmond, Va., all being at the bedside when the end came. Two brothers, Messrs. B. H. Lassiter of Randleman and J. L. Lassiter of Charlotte, also survive.
The deceased was a member of the Methodist church. The funeral will be conducted this afternoon at 2 o'clock and the interment will be at Elmwood.
