John Estridge was a City Police Officer in Charlotte, North Carolina. He served 3 years, dying in the line of duty at age 39. Officer Estridge was attempting to arrest a man at Dixie Theater who was creating a disturbance. Officer Estridge and his partner were assigned to the Theater. They warned the man to stop or he'd be kicked out. The man began struggling with the Officers, he gained control of his partners gun, and shot Officer Estridge to death. The suspect fled the scene and was never apprehended. Officer Estridge was survived by his wife and seven children.
