Philabena's first child was born just 11 months and 14 days after Christiana's death. Pheobe's first child was called Emma on the 1850 census and then the 1860 census reported her name as Christiana posing a question as to why the name change. Did they know each
other and Pheobe immediately step up to care for the infant twin daughters. Philabena was 25 years old and had been born in Germany, Could she had been a relative of Christianna? For whatever reason she stepped up immediately and cared for the motherless family of six. She married Rudolph in March of 1849 and they had seven more children. Philabena out lived Rudolph by one month and 18 years. There is some question as to the last name of Philabena who went by Phoebe/Phebe. Was her last name spelled Laheeh or Labeck? This will be answered in the future, I hope. Rudolph and Philabena's first child was born just eleven months and fourteen days after Christiana's death and shows how quickly the men married because they needed someone to care for their children.
(It was not considered proper for a woman not related to him to live in a man's home without being married.)
