THE HORSE AND BUGGY

This is the story of two German gentlemen; one first and one second generation, born in Lorain County, Ohio. Their early means of transportation was with horses and their "Courting Buggies". This isn't a long story, but neither are the distances they traveled. As you will note, their buggies didn't carry many occupants; just room for them and their passenger. Both were born on farms, William H. Streicher, July 11, 1884 in Russia Township and Leonard G. Beesing, June 12, 1882 in Brownhelm Township. Both died in Amherst, Ohio in 1964 and buried in Brownhelm Cemetery.
^-William married Wilhelmina Nabakowski March 9, 1911 in the bride's home in Amherst. Leonard married Marie Katherine Pippert May 24, 1916 in the E.U.B. Church in Brownhelm. I don't know the names of the horses; but with out them the story continues to the marriage of William's son, Chester, and Leonard's daughter, Norma, who were married October 20, 1942 in St. Paul Lutheran Church in Amherst. Travel and courting was much different for them and much farther. The family line continued, but fortunately or sadly unfortunately, not with the "Courting Buggies".
