BROWNHELM TOWNSHIP — Jane Nabakowski (nee: Williams), 88 years of age, and a resident of Brownhelm Township, passed away Thursday, January 7, 2010 at Anchor Lodge Nursing Home in Lorain following deteriorating health.
She was born March 4, 1921 in Lorain, Ohio. Jane was raised in Lorain and graduated from Lorain High School in the class of 1939-B. She had made her home in Amherst for fifty-three years before moving to Brownhelm Township.
Jane was a loving housewife and mother. She was a former member of Amherst Congregational Church. Jane was very involved with her family especially her grandchildren. She was an accomplished seamstress making many items of clothing for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved water activities especially swimming. An excellent baker her family will miss greatly her chocolate cake and apple pies.
Survivors include her son Tenant Nabakowski and his wife Ewa of Lakewood, her daughters and their husbands Lynne and Thomas Morain of Elyria, Suzanne and Robert Koba of Brownhelm Township, with whom she had made her home for the past sixteen years; four grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and her sister Letty Williams of Amherst.
She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty years John T. "Jack" Nabakowski on December 12, 1991; by her parents Edward J. and Rebecca Williams (nee: Jones); her brother John Clark Williams; and her sister Mary Marsh.
Friends may call Friday, January 15, 2010, from 4-7 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral services will be Saturday, January 16, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. from the funeral home. The Rev. Mark Pemberton, pastor of St. Peter United Church of Christ in Amherst, will officiate. Burial will be in Brownhelm Cemetery, Brownhelm Township.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Gen R.N. Memorial Nursing Scholarship Fund c/o Lorain County Community College Foundation; 1005 North Abbe Road, Elyria, Ohio 44035.
