He married (first) Maria Gessner on 8 Nov 1884 in North Amherst (now Amherst), Lorain Co., OH. The marriage ceremony was performed by Chas. W. Lacher.

He married (second) Anna Katherina Gessner on 18 Oct 1898 in Lorain Co., OH. The marriage ceremony was performed by Clayton Chapman, Justice of the Peace.

Jacob died at his home in Amherst, OH and was buried 5 Sep 1933.

THE DEATH OF JACOB MILLER

AMHERST, Sept. 5. -- Jacob Miller, 70 years of age, died at his home on South Main street, Saturday at 5:55 p.m. Mr. Miller was born in Amherst Township and lived here his entire life.

For 18 years he was engaged in the coal business, retiring eight years ago because of ill health, his son Walter taking over the management of the coal yards.

Surviving are his widow, Katherine, two daughters and two sons; Mrs. Rudolph Algrim, Elyria, Miss Olive MIller, at home, Walter and Henry Miller, also of Amherst; four grand children; two brothers, Willilam of Amherst and Henry, Elyria; two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Sales, Huron, Mrs. Mary Whittmore, Lorain.

The deceased was a member of St. Peter's Evangelical church and was affilitated with the Masonic order and the Knights of Pythias.

Funeral rites were held from the late home at two o'clock this afternoon, Rev. C. E. Schmidt, pastor of St. Peter's Evangelical church officiating and the Masons had charge of the services at the grave. Burial was made on the family lot at the Brownhelm cemetery.

Jacob Miller Was Born In This Community 70 Years Ago -- Impressive funeral services were held Tuesday for Jacob Miller, a lifelong resident of Amherst, who died at his home here last Saturday at the age of 70 years.

Services at the home were in charge of Rev. C. E. Schmidt, pastor of St. Peter's church, Stonington Lodge, F. and A. M. furnished the music and held short Masonic rites at the grave.

Pall bearers were Fred Holzhauer, Charles Ebbs, R. Lee Menz, Carl J. Ehrman, Newton Holzhauer and Raymond Bechtel. Honorary pall bearers were: Dr. H. L. Hall, Alex Cameron, Charles Wolf, J. H. Frederick, N. F. Foster and Robert Patterson.

Mr. Miller was born near Amherst and spent his entire life here. For the past 18 years he was engaged in the coal business. He was a member of St. Peter's Evangelical church, Stonington lodge, No. 503, F. and A. M. and the Knights of Pythias.

He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Katherine Miller; two sons, Henry and Walter, of Amherst; two daughters, Mrs. Rudolph Ahlgriem, of Elyria, and Miss Olive, at home. Two brothers, Henry of Elyria, and William, of Amherst, and two sisters, Mrs. Charles Sahls, Huron and Mrs. Mary Whittmore of Lorain, also survive.

BROTHER OF MRS. SALES DIES AT AMHERST HOME

AMHERST - Jacob Miller, 70, Amherst, business man and owner of the J. Miller & Son Coal yard, died suddenly of heart trouble at his home on S. Main street at 5:15 p.m. Saturday.

Mr. Miller was born in this vicinity and has been in business here for 18 years. He was a member of St. Peter's Evangelical church, the Stonington lodge No. 503 F. & A. M., and the Knights of Pythias.

He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Katherine Miller, two sons, Henry and Walter, of Amherst, two daughters, Mrs. Rudolph Ahlgrem, Elyria, and Miss Olive at home, and four grandchildren. Other survivors are two brothers, Henry of Elyria, and William of Amherst; two sisters, Mrs. Charles Sales, Huron, and Mrs. Mary Whittmore, Lorain.

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m., Tuesday from the home with Rev. C. E. Schmidt, pastor of St. Peter's officiating.

Music was furnished by the Masons. Burial was in Brownhelm cemetery with short Masonic rites at the grave.

Friends and relatives attended the rites from Cleveland, Huron, Elyria, Lorain, Sandusky and Toledo.
