Jay Paul Paul Manes, was computer analyst
Jay Paul Manes, 41, of Amherst, died Thursday at his parent's home after a lengthy illness.
Mr. Manes was born in Amherst and lived there all his life. He was a 1976 graduate of Marion L. Steele High School in Amherst.
Mr. Manes was employed as a computer operations analyst at Great Lakes Data Corp. Prior to taking that position, he had worked for the past ten years for May Co.'s computer center at Sheffield Centre.
While in high school, he worked for Sparkle Market. He worked for the market for 10 years, mainly at the Amherst store, and ended his career with the store as an assistant manager.
In 1980, he received his associate degree from Lorain County Community College in business administration. In 1988, he earned a second associate degree from LCCC in computer science.
Mr. Manes was raised and confirmed in St. Paul Lutheran Church in Amherst. He also was a lifetime member of the church. Through the years, he served as an acolyte, usher, teller and as financial secretary for six years.
He is survived by his parents, Orville J. and Lois (nee Beesing) Manes of Amherst; and sisters Kay Trinemeyer and Carol Manes, both of Amherst.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst.
Services will take place at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 115 Central Drive in Amherst. The Rev. Gary D. Bernath, pastor of the church, will officiate. Burial will be in Brownhelm Cemetery.
