William Henry Grote was born in North Amherst (now Amherst), Lorain Co., OH.

He was the son of Johannes Wilhelm Grote and Adeline Amalie Sabiers.

He married Florence Ellia (Wittmer) Sennhenn on 20 Jan 1923 in Erie Co., OH. The marriage ceremony was performed by Rev. Clarence A. Buchholz, Florence's brother-in-law..

William died in St. Joseph's Hospital in Lorain, OH and was buried 22 Apr 1954.
