Charles H. Morrison
January 15, 2008, WARREN/NORTH BROOKFIELD
Our beloved father and friend, Charles H. Morrison, 81, of Warren, passed away peacefully on January 12, 2008 at home, surrounded by his loving family and friends, after a brief illness.
Born on December 15, 1926 in Ware, Massachusetts, he was the eldest son of the late Charles and Lena (Jandrow) Morrison. He was predeceased by a brother, Raymond Morrison, and a sister, Marie (Morrison) Connolly, both of North Brookfield. Charles graduated from North Brookfield High School, serving as class president, and enrolled in Becker College in Worcester. Answering the call of service to his country, he enlisted in the United States Navy, and was stationed in San Diego, California. After World War II ended, he returned to Massachusetts, where he married and began raising his family.
Charles worked as a machinist at A&M Tool & Die Company for over thirty years, retiring to care for his wife during her extended illness. Despite the stress he experienced during this period of time, he never lost his good nature, his caring personality or his love of life. He was a hard worker, a great listener, a valued friend, and a cherished father. He will be dearly missed.
Charles was predeceased by his beloved wife of forty-four years, Marjorie T. (Kenney) Morrison, who passed away in 1994, and his son, Steven W. Morrison, who passed away in 1991. He leaves his adoring children, Douglas C. Morrison and his wife Deborah of New Braintree; David P. Morrison of West Warren; Laurie J. Morrison of Brimfield; Barry A. Morrison of Dennis; and Troy D. Morrison and his wife Michelle of Leicester. Charles also leaves ten grandchildren, including Mandy (Morrison) Allen, daughter of Steven, whom he raised, five great-grandchildren and his long-time companion, Violet Rogacevicz, who gave him a second chance at love and life after the passing of his wife, Marjorie.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 18, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. in the Christ Memorial Episcopal Church, 133 North Main Street, North Brookfield, with burial at Walnut Grove Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Charles' name to the North Brookfield EMS, P.O. Box 73, North Brookfield, MA 01535.
