Augustus and his brothers emigrated to the United States in 1854 with their parents Christian and Wilhemina Louisa Stroher Batchfield. Christian and Louisa are buried in Winchester, Indiana along with their son Charles. Christian fought in the Battle of Waterloo against Napoleon and was a cobbler.
