Newspaper article dated 2 July 1976 - Home Blast, Fire Fatal to Girl, 8: Logansport, Ind. - Jennifer Bowles, 8, died of smoke inhalation yesterday morning when an expolsion and fire ripped through her home here. Two sister's and the child's grandmother fled the house after the explosion occurred. Resue attempts by a neighbor were foiled by heavy smoke. It is believed the fire was started by a gas furnace on the first floor beneath Jennifer's second-floor bedroom where she was asleep. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Bowles.
