Mrs. Mae B. Barnes, 81, of 3031 S. Pennsylvania Ave., a prominent local woman, died at 2 p.m. Friday at Memorial Hospital here. Mrs. Barnes was president of the YWCA from 1924 to 1930, resident, of the Neal Home Board from 1925 to 1945, president of the Cass County Welfare,
Association from 1946 to 1958, resident of the Logansport Art Association in 1928 and president of the First Mother's Study Club in 1921. She was a deaconess of the Calvary Presbyterian church from 1955 to 1958. Born Jan. 31, 1878, in Bradord, Ohio, she was the daughter of Allen Cornell and Jane Coate DeWeese. Her marriage Dec. 30, 1906, was to Charles H. Barnes, who died in 1949.

Survivors include one son, Charles H. Barnes of 2928 High St.; two grandsons, John E. Barnes of 2527 E. Broadway and Thomas C. Barnes of Indianapolis;two granddaugnters, Mrs. Patricia B. Moder of Chicago and Mrs. Ann B. Dramm of LaJolla, Calif.; nine great-grandchildren. One son, John E. Barnes, also preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Calvary Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Irving Phillips will officiate and burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery. Friends may call at the Kroeger Funeral Home from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today.
