Deceased Name: Christina M. Lovell: Head-on collision kills Camas woman
CAMAS A 25-year-old motorist was killed Wednesday morning when another vehicle crashed head-on into her minivan in the Fern Prairie area north of Camas, sheriff's deputies said.

Christina M. Lovell of Camas was pronounced dead at the scene, said Clark County Sheriff's Sgt. Melanie Kenoyer.

The other driver, Gary M. Thompson, 38, of Camas, was listed in serious condition later Wednesday at Legacy Emanuel Hospital in Portland.

About 9 a.m., Kenoyer said, Thompson was driving a 1978 Ford Bronco north where Northeast Reilly Road turns into 292nd Avenue.

Kenoyer said Thompson allegedly cut the corner and crossed into the oncoming lane. The Bronco crashed head-on into a 1988 Dodge Caravan that Lovell was driving south.

It's a blind curve, Kenoyer said, and neither driver had a chance to brake before the collision.

Deputy Doug Harada of the sheriff's traffic homicide unit, who is investigating the crash, said no citation was immediately issued. He said he is investigating why Thompson apparently drove onto the wrong side of the road.

Although the morning was cold, there was no evidence the road was icy, and Thompson did not initially appear to have been drinking, Harada said.
