Oltman Hilbers
Funeral services for Oltman Hilbers were held Wed., Jan. 19, 2000 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in rural Hooper. He died January 16 at the Good Samaritan Center in Scribner at the age of 90 years.
The Rev. Chris Lenning offiiciated at the service. Lavonne Moeller was organist. Burial was in St. Paul's Cemetery.
Casket bearers were Val Alberts, Jeff Pribnow, Jeff Dresser, Dennis Totten, Stephen Backhus, Chad Hilbers, Nathan Hilbers. Honorary casket bearers were Vaughn Alberts, Del Ray Alberts, Dean Alberts, Byron Alberts, Andrew Hilbers, Greg Hilbers and Brent Hilbers.
The family suggests memorials to S1, Paul's Cemetery fund or the Scribner Rescue Squad.
Spear-Johnson Funeral Home in Scribner was in charge of arrrangements.
Oltman A. Hilbers was born April 28, 1909 in Hooper to George and, Matilda (Suhr) Hilbers. He attended District 18
school and graduated from Hooper High School in 1928. He also attended UNL for a short time.
He married Wilma K. Hasemann on June 5, 1935 in Scribner. They farmed west of Uehling until he retired in 1977 and moved into Scribner.
He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in rural Hooper serving as a member and past president of the church council. He was a member of Lutheran Brotherhood, a past officer of Logan Hall and was a past memmber of the District 60 school board.
Survivors include his Wife, Wilma of Scribner; five sons:
Gene and wife Marlene of Hooper, Raymond and wife Pauline of Oakland. Vernon and wife Dianne of Scribner, Dennis and wife Katheryn of Hooper, Loran and wife Robin of Hooper; two daughters: Karilyn and husband Donald Alberts of Scribner, Anita and husband Robert Backhus of Effingham, IL; one brother, Elmer and wife Collette Hilbers of Hooper; one sister, Dora Hasemann of Scribner: 25 grandchildren; 26 greatchildren and eight step-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Wayne; two sisters, Olga Kraemer and Emma Johnson.
