Obituary from Waldron News: Annie Matilda Bigelow, a resident of Waldron, passed away on 6-26-79 at the Pinewood Convalescent Home at Waldron. She had reached the age of 95 yrs and 19 days. Mrs. Bigelow was born on June 7, 1884 at Proctorville, Ohio, the daughter of George Absalom and Sarah Ellen (Robinson)Hughes. At an early age she came with her parents to Whiting Iowa where they were engaged in farming. On Sept 9,1903, she was united in marriage to Budd Elverton Bigelow at Whiting, Iowa. 3 sons and 4 daughters were born to them. The farmed near Whiting, and in 1917 they moved to Ark. to a farm south- west of Waldron, where one other daughter was born. Mrs Bigelow remained living here with her son Norman until 26 days before her death. She was a member of the Church of Christ. Survivors include 2 sons, George E. and Norman E or Waldron,4 daughters, Mrs. Mary Riecke, Arcata, CA, Mrs. Irene Waid, Fruita, Colo., Mrs. Louise Burr, Windsor, Ca, and Mrs. Esther Wagoner of Ukiah, CA. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, a son and 3 brothers.Services were held at 2:00pm Thursday 6-28-1979 at Rice-Martin Funeral Chapel at Waldron, Ar with Rev Sam Wagoner officiating. Pallbearers were Houston Smith, Smiley Bransford, M.C. Maxwell, Winfred Wagoner, Jack Croww and Joe Carmack. Interment was in Duncan Cemetery at Waldron, Ar with arrangements by Rice-Martin Funeral Home.
