Helen Herbst Wed In Quiet Ceremony
In a quiet and impressive ceremony last Monday afternoon Miss Hellen Herbst, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Herbstof Franklin - av, became the bride of Pvt. Ivor Stockstill, son of Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Stockstill of Ponca City, Oklahoma.
Rev. C. E. Schmidt pastor of St. Peter's Evangelical and Reformed church, performed the ceremony in the church parsonage.
The bride was attired in a smart white wool gabardine suit with which she wore accessories of Kelly green. Orchids fashioned her corsage. There were no attendants.
The bride is a graduate of Amherst high school, class of 1935, and is a chief operator oat the Amherst office of the Lorain Telephone Co. Pvt. Stockstill, a member of the U. S. Army stationed at Greenville, Pa, was employed as a machinst at the Ridge Tool Co., Elyria before his induction.
The wedding dinner was served in the Herbst home at six-thirty to the immediate family and Rev. and Mrs. C. E. Schmidt.

Ivor C. Stockstill, 74, of Amherst, died Aug. 18 at Lorain Community Hospital following a 10 day illness.
Born in Strafford, Mo., Jan. 19, 1907, he was a resident of Amherst for 40 years coming from Oklahoma. He was a repairman at Ridge Tool Co. in Elyria, retiring in 1969 after 20 years of service.
Stockstill was a member of St. Peter United Church of Christ here. He was a World War II U. S. Army veteran.
Surviving are his wife of 37 years, Helen E.; daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Lorain) Langdon, of Seattle, Wash., and Mrs. James (Betty) Blower, of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; three grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; sisters, Mrs. Sylvia Thorpe, of Phoenix, Ariz., and Mrs. Thelma Fitch, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; brother, Noel, of Prescott, Ariz., and Louis, of Indialantic, Fla.
Funeral services were held at the Garland Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert A. Happel officiating. Burial was in Crownhill Cemetery, Amherst.
