Helen Herbst Wed In Quiet Ceremony
In a quiet and impressive ceremony last Monday afternoon Miss Hellen Herbst, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Herbst of Franklin - av, became the bride of Pvt. Ivor Stockstill, son of Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Stockstill of Ponca City, Oklahoma.
Rev. C. E. Schmidt pastor of St. Peter's Evangelical and Reformed church, performed the ceremony in the church parsonage.
The bride was attired in a smart white wool gabardine suit with which she wore accessories of Kelly green. Orchids fashioned her corsage. There were no attendants.
The bride is a graduate of Amherst high school, class of 1935, and is a chief operator at the Amherst office of the Lorain Telephone Co. Pvt. Stockstill, a member of the U. S. Army stationed at Greenville, Pa, was employed as a machinist at the Ridge Tool Co., Elyria before his induction.
The wedding dinner was served in the Herbst home at six-thirty to the immediate family and Rev. and Mrs. C. E. Schmidt.

Enjoyed traveling, yard work, golf -- Helen E. Stockstill, 80, a lifelong resident of Amherst, died Wednesday at Amherst Manor Nursing Home.
She was born in Amherst.
Mrs. Stockstill worked for many years at the former Lorain County Bank, now PremierBank, at its Amherst branch, retiring in 1976.
She was a member of St. Peter United Church of Christ in Amherst.
Mrs. Stockstill also was a homemaker and enjoyed yard work, traveling and golf in her younger years.
Survivors include her daughter, Lorna Langdon of Washington; a granddaughter, Tammy Langdon; sisters Amela Nickel of Amherst and Florence Van Ausdale of Oberlin; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ivor, in 1976; and sisters Olga Hutton and Elsie Holle.
Friends amy call from 10:30 a.m. until time of services at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Garland-Misencik Funeral Home, 851 Park Ave., Amherst, where the Rev. David Gross, pastor of St. Peter United Church of Christ, will officiate.
