Ernestine L. "Ernie" Knipper was the daughter of Joseph Knipper and Helena Weitz.

She married Asa Enslo Rash on 28 Jan 1924 in Cuyahoga Co., OH.

Ernie died at Anchor Lodge Nursing Home in Lorain, OH and was buried 9 Jun 1997.

Ernestine L. "Ernie" Rash (nee Knipper), 95, of Amherst died Thursday at Anchor Lodge Nursing Home in Lorain after a long Illness.

Mrs. Rash was born and raised in Avon. She had lived in Amherst for 51 years before becoming a patient at the nursing home.

Along with her late husband, she owned and operated Rash's Fruit & Vegetable Stand on Milan Avenue in Amherst for many years. They farmed and grew most of what they sold there.

She was a member of the Waverly Hunt Club in Kipton.

Mrs. Rash is survived by a brother, Edward Knipper of Elyria; a sister- and brother-in-law, Bernetta and Robert Rash of Monroeville; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Asa E. Rash, in 1989.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst, where services will be at 1 pm. Monday. The Rev. David Gross, pastor of St Peter United Church of Christ in Amherst, will officiate.

Burial will be in Crownhill Cemetery in Amherst.
